Abstract

The automatic calculator comprises a rectangular plastic casing which may be attached to a wrist strap. The casing houses a number of digital displays similar to those used on calculators. A three figure display (3) indicates the duration of a dive, and a further display (4) indicates the depth. Three additional displays (5, 6, 7) indicate the time to be spent at various depths, whilst a final display (8) indicates the temp. The box includes temp. and pressure sensors, and a battery which is controlled by a switch sensitive to contact with water. The calculator is thus automatically started when it is immersed in water. A microprocessor with a clock circuit and a memory controls the displays in accordance with the information derived from the sensors, and a table of data stored in the memory relating to the speed at which it is safe to come to the surface.
