Abstract

The weatherproof support is for rotatable and inclineable lamps esp. those mounted as auxiliary lights on vehicle roofs. The lamp itself is mounted directly on two shaped channels (3, 5) inwardly facing and secured by a wing-nut (4) on either side. The supply cable (7) to the lamp connector (8) is taken into the vehicle via a rotatable pillar from the lamp mounting. The pillar is trapped within the vehicle roof-mounting plate (1) by a bronze sphere (15) trapped by a threaded base-section (12a) and sealed against water ingress by 'O' rings. The supply cable enters the vehicle through the sphere to an annular pick-up electrode and sprung electrode held in the sphere. The pillar is continued through the sphere as a handle (11) allowing manual rotation.
