Abstract

The node joint may be used to connect member ends in space frame superstructures. It uses a fixed tubular ring (5) onto which forked (9) member ends are secured by driven tapered pins (1) through fork leg windows (4, 3). Space frames built in this manner may support a flexible canvas cladding or may support a metal wire fabric receiving a sprayed concrete application. The ring (5) may surmount (6, 7) a column (8) which transmits vertical loads to the ground.
