Abstract

Information supports such as photographic or holographic plates or data discs are transferred from a cylindrical store to a point of use. Selection is provided from a magnetic substance on the envelope. Information supports (5) which are square and thin are stored in a circular magazine in a vertical plane and are separated by spacers. A point of use (8) is located in a free area and selection (9) and transfer (10) mechanisms are located above a central area. The transfer mechanism comprises an endless notched belt (25) on pulleys (26, 27). Fingers (28, 29) are attached to the belt which is driven by a toothed wheel (30). A motor is controlled to align the selector with a passageway and a second motor ensures that the fingers extract the appropriate information support.
