Abstract

Fuel chamber of a pyrotechnic device such as a flare or a smoke signal is fitted with a permeable plug, to release volatile decompsn. prods., esp. H2 and inhibit entry of water vapour during storae prior to use. Pref. the operative component of the plug is a membrane approx. 40 mu thick, of several mm2 area, and made of high density polyethylene (not expanded) or of a sintered material.
