Abstract

A three-phase medium-voltage switch for electric motor supply comprises an SF6 - filled contactor (12) in series with three fuses (14 R, S, T). The glowing of any fuse to protect the circuits in the event of a fault, is required to actuate a mechanism causing opending of the contactor. This is achieved by a striker pin leaving the bottom of the fuse and displacing a pivoted plate. Each plate is associated with a specially shaped spring (54) the other ends of which all surround a transversely mounted rod (50). The springs convert vertical movement of the pins and plates into horizontal movement of the rod by pressing upon collars (60, R, S, T). Displacement of the rod tilts a cranked level (52) which actuates a microswitch (34) and the contactor control (36). Re-closure is prevented until replacement of the blown fuse(s). The shape of the spring is such that a small force from the plate is sufficient to move it past a dead-centre position after which the opening regime follows.
