Abstract

To wind the weft yarn on to a spool on a carrier, for use in a wave shed loom, there is a prim. unit to hold the winding components in a predetermined posn. after the satellite wheels and rack have been disengaged. A fixable quadrant is mounted diametrically opposite the rack, with projections attached to the satellite wheels to act on the periphery of the quadrant when moved against it by the disc. A sec. unit consistently releases and stops the winding unit in a preset posn., with two cams to give a shock-free release and stop action. This is placed above the overlaping sections of the satellite wheels running at any time from the quadrant to the rack and from the rack to the quadrant. One of the number of winding units has a corresponding number of paired studs of which each pair is attached to a satellite wheel. One stud of the pair acts with the release cam while the other stud acts with the stop cam. Design increases the capacity of a wave shed loom and simultaneously reduces weft yarn wastage.
