Abstract

An automatic transporter, conveying samples to an enclosure contg. a detector, comprises a support for a sample to be tested and means of moving this support horizontally along a track upstream and downstream of the test enclosure and stopping it opposite the enclosure. It incorporates in addn. means of moving the sample vertically downwards into contact with the detector, and then bringing it and its support vertically upwards out of the enclosure back on to the track. The transporter is partic. applicable to the measurement of the reactivity of samples coming from nuclear power stations. The automatic carrier cn accept samples presenting any shape or size. In addn. the invention allows isolation of each sample being tested from other samples and maintenance of the quality of the screening of the detector.
