Procédé de préparation d'alkyléne-glycols par hydratation catalytique d'oxydes d'alkylènes en présence de dioxyde de carbone. Le procédé est essentiellement caractérisé en ce qu'on utilise, comme catalyseur pour la réaction d'hydratation, un sel de phosphonium quaternaire répondant à la formule :
