Abstract

The bath has a side door to aid entry and exit of the handicapped from a wheelchair. The door opens outwards to expose the whole of the raised seat of the bath, and the majority of the floor. The door has a handle (8) which operates the closing latch (14). The periphery of the door has an elastomeric flange around it (12) held by a groove which abuts a similar groove in the bath frame. This provides a watertight seal when the door is closed. The bath is mounted on feet (34, 35) which are slightly higher than the dia. of the small front wheels of a wheelchair.
