Abstract

Appts. for cleaning and decontaminating long transport vessels for fuel elements comprises a water spray system and a collecting trough for the cleaning liquid. The water spray system and collecting trough are mounted beneath the floor level along which the vessel is normally transported, e.g. to a removing vehicle. An opening in the floor is slightly larger than the base surface of the vessel and the spray equipment is mounted just below this opening; an operator's platform surrounds the space below the vessel and is protected from splash by a curtain wall. Used for externally cleaning and decontaminating used fuel containment vessels, for instance during transport between different locations in a power plant.
