Abstract

The sandwich board used by hitchhikers is made from a moulded thermoplastics sheet. It has three apertures behind which are placed cards carrying various pieces of information including the destination of the traveller. The destination card is removable and can be replaced by one of several similar cards. The board can be equipped either with two hinged legs so it can be supported on the ground facing on-coming traffic or a set of adhesive pads so its can be mounted on the back of a rucksack.
