Abstract

The fixture for supporting a fluorescent tube(2) consists of two cubical portions(E1, E2) joined by a U section centre piece(S). The inward facing sides of the cubes(E1, E2) have circular holes fitted with lip seals (5) to receive the tube. The tube is inserted into the hole(5) in the end(E2) so that it deflects the flexible contact(16). The tube is next swung downwards until it is aligned with the hole at the opposite end(E1) and then moved axially to abut against the contacts(17). The end(E1) also contains a two pole switch to ensure complete separation of the lamp from the mains. Pref. bipolar chopper is provided so that when the tube is not placed in the support the circuit is opened.
