Abstract

The fitting is mounted on the foot of a blade(2) or a bucket of a snowplough and acts directly or indirectly to effect the partial elevation of the blade when an obstacle(3) is encountered. It obviates damage to highway surface fittings e.g. kerbs of refuge islands. The accessory may comprise a sabot (1) or a metal shell, mounted at intervals on the foot of a blade, and effecting a mechanical uplift. Alternative forms may comprise wheels, skis or pressure detectors, the latter being governed by definite min. carriageway surface irregularities above which blade elevation is effected directly or through signalling.
