Abstract
After casting, the solid alloy is immediately subjected to a first transformation (I) by hot working to obtain a min. redn. of 30%; and then a second transformation (II) is undertaken using a redn. of min. 50%. Continuous casting and transformation (I) are pref. achieved via a pair of casting rollers with a gap providing min. 30% redn; whereas transformation (II) is pref. undertaken in one or more rolling mills, esp. after transformation (II) without any interruption. After transformation (I), the alloy is pref. cooled to max. 100 degrees C before transformation (II); and the pref. lead alloy contains 0.02-0.1% Ca, and possibly also 0.1-2% Sn.
