Abstract

A device for the spiral winding of a metal band (1) wherein a base (6) bears a rotatable disk (7) on the periphery of the butt-end of which mandrels (8) intended for winding the metal band (1) are mounted, the metal band fitting by means of its slots (2) on those mandrels (8). Also a means of bending the metal band and a means of sizing the bow of each wound loop are mounted along the periphery of the disk (7) close to its edge and contacting with the smooth edge of the metal band (1). The means of bending the metal band comprises two rollers (9, 10) spaced one from another at a distance of the width of at least one slot (2). The means of sizing the bow of each wound loop is provided by a third roller (13) placed after the rollers (9, 10) of the means of bending the metal band following the direction of movement of the latter. Each of the rollers (9, 10, 13) is fixed to a separate mounting (11, 12, 14) movable at right angles and parallel to the direction of movement of the metal band (1).
