Abstract

The deformability of erythrocytes suspended in blood is determined by measuring the time for a sample to pass through a filtration assembly. A tube (28) in the side of an enclosure (21) allows the inside to be pressurised by compressed air. A predetermined quantity of a sample is injected by a syringe (38) and without modifying the internal pressure. A rubber joint (23) separates this enclosure from a lower enclosure (22) which contains a graduated tube (33) to collect the sample after it passes through a filter (25) when a tap (35) in a tube (34) is opened.
