Abstract
The blowing of air etc. through the furnace tuyeres is stopped and injection holes in the furnace casing are opened in the zones which have partly or completely lost their refractory lining. A refractory mixt. is then injected via the holes to form a lining of pure refractory adhering to the furnace casing and an inner lining which is an agglomerate of the refractory and the charge in the furance. Anchors for the new lining are provided both in the injection hole and in the furnace casing surrounding the hole. The pref. device includes injection holes located at prescribed intervals in the furnace casing and opened when part of the lining is to be repaired; and the injection holes are surrounded by other holes employed for locating replaceable anchor rods in the injected lining. The new lining is securely bonded to the furnace casing.
