Abstract

Energy is obtained from the waves of the sea by a number of floats which move vertically inside a framework attached to the seabed. The floats are constrained to move vertically by rollers and guide rods. Each lower guide rod is attached to a double rack which engages two pinions. These pinions engage a double sided central rack which forms an extension of the piston rod of a pump. The piston thus moves in the opposite direction to the floats as they pump water which is used as an energy store.
