Abstract

Reforming or aromising process is carried out at 510-600 degrees C, a pressure of 1-18 kg/cm2, a LHSV of 1-10 and an H2/hydrocarbon ratio of 5-20, using a catalyst comprising an alumina support contg. 0.005-1 wt.% each of 2 different Pt-group metals selected from Pt, Rh, Pd and Os, 0.005-5 wt.% Sb and 0.1-10 wt.% halogen. The process comprises passing the hydrocarbon feed and H2 through a series of >=2 mobile-bed reaction zones. The catalyst flows progressively downwards through each zone and is passed successively from one zone to the next. The catalyst withdrawn from the bottom of the last zone is passed to a regeneration zone and is then recycled to the 1st reaction zone. The catalysts have higher activity and esp. better stability than prior art catalyst under the above conditions.
