Abstract

Tyre has a radial-ply body of strands lying in planes that pass through the axis of the tyre, or subtending acute angles with the planes. A circumferential reinforcement is incorporated into the radial-ply body and the tread. The reinforcement has the same width as the tread and consists of a single-layer cording of one strand, with winding pitch that is equal to up to 4 times the dia. of the strand. Ratio of height of tyre: width of tyre is 0.40:1 to 0.65:1, pref. 0.58:1. Height and width are measured at the greatest cross-section of the tyre when fitted and fully inflated. The radial ply body is suitably made of strands of rayon, aliphatic or aromatic polyamides, or metals. The circumferential reinforcement is made of the same materials.
