Abstract

The indicator gives the time in hours and minutes for positions of stars or celestial configurations for any hour of the day and any day of the year. star configurations on the indicator are driven by rotation of an hour disc which rotates one revolution in 24 hours. The disc also carries an horizon line. The system has also device for correction of reading accuracy. It has also a large diameter gear wheel which rotates through one revolution in a year. Small rocker mechanisms correct the primary error of the mechanism once every six months. the error is 12 minutes of sidereal time each time. Another correction takes place once every four years to correct the secondary error of the mechanism. This correction also resets the heavens to its initial position thus erasing the 12 minutes sidereal time accumulated during the preceding years.
