Abstract

The parent patent described fire and impact resistant containers of composite construction for holding ammunition or other explosive charges. The structure involved sheets of insulating fibrous board and silicate-based coatings. This addition claims such container with the external surfaces, and pref. also the internal surfaces, treated with varnish coatings, pref. polyester-based, to confer impermeability and resistance to water. Pref. the external walls are of GRP instead of a ligneous board, for the same reason. Example quotes use of varnish coatings up to 1 mm thick, i.e. three layers of 'marine' paint.
