Abstract

In the case of this magnetic tape apparatus, a magnetic tape (4) is transported from a supply reel (1) to a pick-up reel (2), arranged underneath the supply reel (1), via a recording and reproducing section which is arranged next to the reels (1, 2) and comprises a magnetic head (5) and a tape drive roller (3). The reels (1, 2) are assigned buffer chambers (6, 7), which are arranged respectively on the longitudinal sides of a base plate (13) of the magnetic tape apparatus and which are respectively open upwards or downwards towards the supply reel (1) or towards the pick-up reel (2). The required, housing-dependent deflecting points between the recording and reproducing section and the buffer chamber (6) assigned to the supply reel (1) and between the pick-up reel (2) and the buffer chamber (7) assigned to it are designed as air guides (10/1, 10/2, 10/3).
