Abstract

The appts. provides means for applying to the casting or to the feeder head a force developing a bending movement such that the neck joining the head to the casting is broken. The direction of the force does not pass through the neck. Pref. there is included a support device acting upon the member to which the bending force is not applied, the support device including a pusher moving along an axis toward the casting, the pusher having a lever pivoted to i.e. about a transverse axis. The free end of the lever generates the bending force on the other element. A series of feeder head removal of unit may be associated with a conveyor along which castings travel. The appts. is adaptable to many casting-feeder arrangements and provides relatively noise-free head removal.
