Abstract

The position of a source of radiation is determined by detection using a number of detectors of radiation which passes through a collimater with a large number of optical slits. The instrument is for detecting the position of the source of radiation and comprises a collimator (12) with a large number of optical slits each with a photoconducting detector (14) which closes the remote end of the slit. These slits receive components of radiation on a direct line from the source. A positioning motor (64) modifies the transverse position of the slits w.r.t. the source.
