Abstract

L'invention a pour objet un procédé et un appareil pour évaluer la transparence ou la teinte grise d'une pierre telle qu'un diamant. Un détecteur 42 reçoit pendant la chute d'un diamant 58 à l'intérieur d'un tube 26 et d'une sphère 22 la lumière provenant d'un fond éclairé 18 et la lumière réfléchie au cours de sa chute par le diamant 58, en provenance de la surface interne de la sphère 22 qui est éclairée grâce à une ouverture 32 par une lumière modulée par un disque denté tournant 36. L'invention permet de trier et de classer automatiquement les pierres transparentes ou translucides en fonction de leur apparence plus ou moins grise.
