Abstract

Used on a machine which rolls freshly rolled sheet metal strip, the tool-change system provides for the rapid extn. and replacement of cased assemblies comprising a planning roller and support rollers, each case constituting a rail-guided carriage and co-operating with a similar transporter carriage. Mounted at longitudinal intervals and alternately in vertical opposition about the strip, the cases are coupled to jacks effecting vertical displacements during planning, and have rollers which settle on transverse tracks in prepn. for the exchange. The transporter has adjacent rail emplacements one of which locates the new case, moves into a prim. position for the old case to be displaced transversely into an empty emplacement, and finally moves into a sec. position from which the new case is pushed into the machine.
