Abstract

Two wheels with grooved rims are incorporated in a machine for descaling drawn wire, guiding the wire axially on an 'S' shaped path of which the demi paths are in perpendicular planes. The wheel mountings permit the introduction of the wire by a four phase operation, the axle of the prim. wheel orbiting about an offset prim. axis parallel to the incoming wire trajectory, and the axle of the sec. wheel orbiting about a parallel sec. axis. Initially movable and fixed guides align with the wire on a straight path traversing the prim. wheel, the latter then orbiting to obtain a 'Z' shaped wire trajectory. Next the sec. wheel descends on an orbital path to effect an 'S' shaped trajectory, and finally the prim. wheel is orbited into an intermediate perpendicular position.
