Abstract
Traitement de boues aqueuses renfermant des substances organiques, virus, bactéries et composés métalliques toxiques. Le procédé consiste à mélanger les boues avec de l'oxyde de calcium, ce qui conduit à une réaction exothermique dégageant de la vapeur d'eau. Le produit obtenu est solide, friable, sensiblement inodore et présente un pH d'au moins 12, ce qui désactive les bactéries et virus. Les composés toxiques métalliques (du plomb, de l'arsenic, etc.) sont rendus insolubles dans l'eau par l'augmentation de pH.
