Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'alcoylation du phénylacétonitrile par réaction avec les dérivés halogénés. La réaction du phénylacétonitrile avec un dérivé du type X-R-X ou R-X dans lequel R désigne un radical alkyle contenant de 2 à 5 atomes de carbone et X un halogène, est mise en oeuvre en milieu basique hétérogène composé de soude aqueuse et de diméthybulfoxyde. Le procédé est notamment applicable à l'obtention de l'acide phényl-1 cyclopentanecarboxylique par alcoylation du phénylacétonitrile par le dibromo-1,4 butane puis hydrolyse du phényl-1 cyclopentane carbonitrile.The present invention relates to a process for alkylating phenylacetonitrile by reaction with halogenated derivatives. The reaction of phenylacetonitrile with a derivative of the X-R-X or R-X type in which R denotes an alkyl radical containing from 2 to 5 carbon atoms and X a halogen, is carried out in a heterogeneous basic medium composed of aqueous sodium hydroxide and of dimethyl sulfoxide. The process is particularly applicable to the production of 1-phenyl cyclopentanecarboxylic acid by alkylation of phenylacetonitrile with 1,4-dibromobutane followed by hydrolysis of 1-phenyl cyclopentane carbonitrile.
