Abstract

Compsn. contains 1 herbicide of formula (I), and/or of formula (II) and/or of formula (III) in an alkyl- or dialkylformamide solvent, esp. DMF: In the formulae, R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio, or NR5R6; R2, R3, R5 and R6 are H, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl or alkylsulphinyl, 2-4C alkenyl, SO2NH2, SO2N-S(CH3)2 (sic), all with H atoms opt. replaced by halo, OH, CN or N3; R4 is H, trihalomethyl, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl or alkylsulphinyl, 2-4C alkenyl or SO2NR7R8; R7 and R8 are H, 1-4 C alkyl, 2-4C alkenyl, SO2N-S(CH3)2, haloalkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, 2-furylmethyl or together form a morpholine, piperazine or piperidine ring. A is phenyl, opt. substd. by 0-3, halo, 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or haloalkylthio, 2-4C alkenyl or alkynyl, trihalomethyl, trihalomethylthio or OCF2CHF2; or A is 2-benzothiazolyl opt. substd. by 0-2 halo or 1-4C alkyl; R is H, 1-4C alkyl, 2-4C alkoxyalkyl or 3-6C cycloalkyl; R' is O or S; R2' is H or 1-4C alkyl; R3' is 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, 2-4C alkenyloxy, X is SCH2, SEt, OCH3; Y is 1-4 C alkyl or dicyclopropylmethyl; Z1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, and Z2 is 1-4C alkyl, cyclopropylmethyl or -O-C(CH3)2CN. Used for selective pre- or post-emergence application e.g. in crops of cereals, soya, cotton and sunflowers. Solns. of high active content (hence acceptable solvent content) can be made e.g. 5-75, pref. 10-50 w/v % active material.
