Abstract
Al silicate contg. ores are formed into stable granulates which are suitable for digestion with acid, by first loosening the mineral structure of the ore to such a degree that the primary structure is destroyed and then agglomerating the fine particles pressureless and at a moisture content of 20-30%. This gives agglomerates of >2 mm dia, which are subsequently calcined at 650 degrees - 850 degrees C. The stable granulates give a greater yield and the formation of a suspension of finely dispersed insoluble solids when being digested with the acid is avoided.
