Abstract

In a water treatment plant for the prodn. of extremely pure water from mains tap water, the water is piped in turn through a pressure reducing valve, a solenoid valve, a fine filter to eliminate suspended particles, a demineralising cartridge contg. ion exchange resins, a sterilising unit and a flexible tube fitted with a discharge nozzle. The sterilizing unit pref. comprises a tubular chamber fitted with a generator of ultra-violet radiation. Opening of the solenoid valve is pref. delayed until the UV generator has had time to warm up. Water leaving the demineraliser is pref. passed through an ohmmeter which checks the degree of demineralisation. An elapsed hours meter pref. shares a common on-off switch with the treatment plant. Each principal electrical component pref. has a corresp. warning light. The treatment plant is pref. mobile on a wheeled trolley.
