Abstract

The cross-section of the plug is in the shape of a quadrant which passes over a port in the wall of a cylindrical body. A ridge(24) forms the contact surface between plug(23) and body (1). This ridge(24) is in the form of a trapezium with sloping upper and lower sides. This shape of ridge pr events foreign matter being trapped between the plug (23) and body(1) and scoring the bore of the valve.
