Abstract
The linear or angular displacement is sensed by measuring voltage delivered by transformer whose coupling depends on position of moving object. Measurements are processed by digital processor operating in real time. An electromagnetic transducer (1) is powered from pulse generator (4) via an amplifier (3). The transducer output winding (5) is coupled to an amplifier (7) matched for impedance and amplitude and whose output is sampled (9, 10). Sampling circuits are controlled from pulse the generator with delays given by time between leading and trailing edges of waveform. Differential input amplifier (13) receives sampler outputs to provide difference value for comparison purposes.
