Abstract
The arrangement for disrupting a vehicle-capsule boundary, partic. an aircraft cockpit hood, is intended to facilitate escape in an emergency, i.e. using an ejector seat. It is basically a series of strips of electrically conducting material in circuit with an energy source sufficiently powerful to cause them to melt, embedded in non-conducting boundary material. The strips (12b, 12d) are arranged in a criss-cross covering the hood zone over the ejector seat, with their plane perpendicular to that of the hood surfaces. At intervals along their length they have reduced-width portions (14). Strip material may be silver or palladium-coated aluminium.
