Abstract

The exterior rear view mirror eliminates the dead angle existing with normal mirrors. It consists of three mirror sections (1, 2, 3) in a single assembly. Two mirrors are angled inwards towards the central one. The mirrors are mounted in two housings (4, 5) and these are joined by two hinges (6) which allow adjustment of the mirror angles. In case of shocks, protective shields (9, 10) are provided for the mirrors. The whole assembly is fixed by a single screw (11) to a single mounting fixed to the car body. The hinge pins (7) also carry dished washers (8) which allow adjustment and then hold the mirror firmly.
