Abstract

The double bed mattress consists of two half-mattresses (1, 2) joined along two adjacent sides, enabling each sleeper to move independently without disturbing the other. The distance between the joins between the adjacent side surfaces is at least equal to one eighth of the thickness of the mattress. The upholstery (4) and outer covering (5) of the mattress are joined and not the springs (3). The two half-mattresses (1, 2) are stitched, hooked, or stuck together. The two long sides of the half-mattresses (1, 2) have piping all round, but not along the sides which are joined together.
