Abstract

The modular orthopaedic device for a paralytic patient is made in portions (1, 2, 3) attached to the leg of the patient and the corresponding leg measurements are taken to enable portions of the correct size to be selected. The measuring device consists of four pieces (11 to 14). These measuring pieces incorporate three connecting points (18, 19, 20) for straps (21) for attachment to the corresponding parts of the leg. The upper piece (14) is T shaped, with a blade part (17) marked with a scale (22), fitting into a wide part of the piece (13) below. This piece and the next piece (12) below also have bladed parts (15, 16) marked with scales (22) and fitting into the piece below. The bottom piece (11) at the ankle is a short piece to receive the blade of the piece above.
