Abstract

The height-adjustable telescopic leg (1) may be used on a scaffold-tube working platform in building construction, and utilities a screw jack mechanism to effect the adjustment. A threaded member (3) slides axially inside a tubular member (2), and a nut (4) mounted rotatably on he head of the former (2) connects the two. The exterior of the nut (4) may be cut into a crown-wheel formation (7) and it may be rotated by a bevelled pinion (12) mounted on the tubular member (2). The two members are, thus, permanently connected and the crown-wheel and pinion may be driven manually or by motor. A working platform may have six such legs arranged in a rectangular support frame and the pinions (12) may be rotated by a central crank-handle with a cable transmission system.
