Abstract

The rope arresting mechanism is for an overhead conveyor such as a ski lift etc. and having two pulleys on vertical spindles, one of whose bearings is on a bracket on which there acts a tension rope with counterweight. It comprises a stirrup-shaped hook (18), one arm of which is attached to the bracket of the single upper bearing of the floating pulley (2), while the other extends below the latter, enclosing the groove in it at a point diametrally opposite where the tension rope (14) is reeved round the bracket. The distance between the lower stirrup arm (18b) and d the pulley is such as to cover completely the path of the main rope if it comes off the floating pulley.
