Abstract

Refractory compsn. suitable for shaping and hardening consists of a refractory binder and water in the form of a mouldable liq. paste including a heat stable expanded material. The refractory binder is a fused cement and the expanded material is a schist, the mixt. contg. 25-50(40)% schist and 25 l water per 100 kg cement schist mixt. Used for mfr. of domestic hearth bricks, chimney breasts, chimney stacks etc. The hearth and stack can be made in fewer, monobloc pieces reducing the assembly time. They offer good heat reflection and help to reduce heat loss up the flue.
