On utilise la souche Sofia 6, cette souche étant isolée sur un malade, placée sur une culture de cellules de reins de cobayes nouveaux-nés et atténuée par des passages sur la même culture de cellules, le virus ainsi obtenu étant utilisé pour la production de vaccins vivants contre les oreillons, d'après une technique connue. c.
