Abstract

At least one gas envelope is maintained round the flowing liq., the gas moving together with the liq. and being continuously renewed. The gas employed is pref. free from germs; or free from dust; or active or neutral according to the needs of the liq. The gas may also be used as a pneumatic carrier for a cellular- or granular-substance brought into contact with the liq. stream. Germ-free gas can be used for biological protection of a liq., whereas dust-free gas provides physical protection. The method is used esp. with (continuous) casting of metals.
