Abstract

The water surface view simulator has a seascape image generator which includes a colour TV camera (CA1), a rear cape model (MA) and a camera displacement system, which moves the camera w.r.t. the model and orientates the camera optical field was to simulate the field of vision of the vehicles driver. The simulator has a viewing system which provides on one or several monitors (MD) for learner driver and instructor, an image which simulates the water surface in the field of view. A synchronising generator produces signals to the rear cape image generator and the viewing system. The simulator has in addition a water surface image generator formed by a memory system and a signal modulator. The memory system stores optical data contained in a still image (R) of the water surface in movement. The simulator also has an overlaying image system formed by a colour detector and a signal selector.
