Abstract

A lining pad for a pile helmet comprises a thermoplastic material contg. 5-40 vol. % metal powder. The thermoplastic is pref. polyethylene of mol. wt. >500,000 or polyamide. The metal is pref. Al and its particle size is pref. 100 mu. The pad is used for cushioning the noise emitted when the beetle head of a pneumatic hammer hits the pile helmet. The pad has good wear and impact resistance, hardness and thermal conductivity.
