Abstract

The mono filament optical fibre coupling has a pair of perpendicular surfaces (51, 56) defined by a base block having a slot (55) in which an elongate upright (53) is rigidly fixed. The thus formed right angle forms the seat for the two fibres (1). A retaining force (75) is applied to the fibres by a bevelled bar (84) given component horizontal and vertical forces (74, 73) respectively by the action of a spring (60) which embraces the upright (53) and lodges in a retaining slot (76) of the block.
