Abstract

The security conveyance system may be used to transfer e.g. funds from a bank(1) to a security van (2) or vice-versa. The system uses a horizontal axially displacing cable (6) from which a security bag (7) is suspended, and which is operated by winch (19) from the inside of the van (2). The cable (6) traverses a security chamber (3, 4) at each end, i.e. built into the walls of the bank (1) and the van (2) respectively. The chambers (3, 4) have an independently operable door (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) on each of the opposite faces traversed by the cable (6). The cable (6) can be threaded through the outer doors (3a, 4a) whilst they remain effectively closed. The outer doors (3a, 4a) may be of the horizontal sliding type, and the inner doors (3b, 4b) may be of the bottom-hung (3c, 4c) pivoting type. When the outer doors (3a, 4a) are opened the aperture presented may correspond to the cross-section of the security bag (7). The geometry of the outer doors (3a, 4a) may be such that a nominal degree of opening allows for the threading of the cable (6). The van (2) may have a security chamber (4, 5) in both the offside and kerbside walls.
