Abstract

The plaster and cardboard based plate has an internal core of plaster whose front and rear faces are clad with laminated cardboard. The same cardboard is used on the front and rear faces, that on the front having an external coating of light coloured paint. The layer of cardboard towards the plaster can be lightly glued, and the outer one heavily so. The paint used can be dispersion-type, and there can be two layers of cardboard on both front and rear faces. The design avoids undesirable stresses in the plate caused by uneven shrinkage of cardboard at front and rear.
